Baby wipe shoppers have no shortage of great options to choose from these days, even if you are looking for one with a safer ingredient list. Because it can be so overwhelming, I decided to take my years of experience purchasing and testing different natural wipe brands to provide some comparisons and personal testimony for each case. Today, I’m comparing the Hello Bello wipes vs Honest wipes.
Honest wipes are a slightly better product than Hello Bello wipes concerning toughness, texture, and size. Because they have a similar ingredients list and performance, however, the Hello Bello wipes are the overall better value.
You can take my word for which wipe is better, but I recommend that you check out my full comparison below to see why I made the choice I did. In the real world, experience counts and I hope to help you with mine!

Hello Bello Wipes Vs Honest Wipes Comparison
To be clear here, both of these wipes are good performers when it comes to getting the dirty jobs done with your baby. What I’m getting into here are the main differences so that you can make a choice based on features and price.
My biggest areas of concern when doing any baby wipe comparison are the ingredients lists, texture, toughness, size, toughness, design, and value. Basically, if these two wipes were sitting next to each other in the store, which one should you pick up.
If you want to check out some of the latest reviews and prices for the Honest wipes then head here to check them out on Amazon. The Hello Bello wipes, however, are sold exclusively at Walmart so you’ll find the best prices for that product here (Walmart offers free 2-day shipping in most cases just like Amazon!)
Both wipes have a great ingredients list
Usually, I’m able to pick a clear winner in every category, but these two wipes offer very similar lists of ingredients. They also both score a 1 out of 10 on EWG’s safety scale so there isn’t any reason to avoid one over the other if everything else is equal.
To judge these ingredients, I’m looking for any of the common chemicals included in many baby products that can cause problems with repeated exposure. This includes irritation, allergic reactions, or even hormonal disruption in certain cases. Basically, there is no reason to include these chemicals in the first place and it makes all the sense in the world to use a more natural product, especially when the performance is the same.
In my personal world, we’ve noticed a total difference between the bargain wipes and the natural alternative. With our first two children, we battled with irritation, diaper rash, and other issues constantly. Once we made the switch with baby number 3, we’ve had no issues so far (in over a year and a half!).
Your mileage will vary I’m sure, but we are convinced. By the way, even if your baby is done potty training and you are just looking for a great, chlorine-free wipe that works great on sensitive skin then these are a great option to have around the house!

There are definitely a lot of items on this list and a few of them even sound pretty scary. Fortunately, only the sodium benzoate is even slightly concerning and that chemical received a 3 out of 10 (the lower the better) on EWG’s safety score because it can be irritating to the skin. The rest of the list is either some kind of preservative, surfactant (helps lift dirt from skin), natural moisturizer, or natural fragrance.
The overall product, however, earns a 1 out of 10 overall. This means that Hello Bello wipes are unlikely to pose any risk to your baby and have a low chance of causing irritation or allergic reaction. Of course, your experience may vary there.
All of the ingredients inside Honest wipes

Even more on this list than the Hello Bello wipes!
Don’t worry though, because none of these ingredients break above a 1 out of 10 as used in this product. The majority of them are actually just plant extracts used for added moisturizing and fragrance while the others are surfactants or preservatives.
Since none of the ingredients are bad, the overall product also gets a 1 out of 10 on EWG. This represents another extremely safe product.
Like I said before, I have to call this category a tie between the two wipes because the lists are so similar and safe.
Hello Bello baby wipes offer the better value vs The Honest Company wipes
At the end of the day, value is going to be a huge part of the equation and there is a clear winner here. As of the time of this writing, you can get the Hello Bello baby wipes for about $.03 per wipe while you will have to pay about $.06 per wipe for The Honest Company. To get the best price you’ll need to purchase the Hello Bello wipes here at Walmart (with free 2-day shipping available) and the Honest wipes are best at Amazon here (with free 2-day shipping for Prime members).

Hello Bello Wipes and Honest Wipes offer similar performance, durability, and other features
Now that we know both products are safe, how do they perform?
You’ll be happy to know that both the Hello Bello wipes and The Honest Company wipes are both going to get the job done well when it comes time to change a dirty diaper or wipe down a messy eater after lunch. In fact, both of these wipes are in what I would call the premium baby wipe category and they are quite similar in most respects. I still give the nod to one or the other in a few situations though.
Texture
This might not be the first thing you worry about when it comes to baby wipes, but it’s probably the second most important thing on my list of priorities besides the ingredients. Having a good texture on your wipe means that it will stay in your hand more firmly and pick up more gross stuff on each pass. Essentially, a great texture can save you time and money because you will use fewer wipes.
With Hello Bello wipes vs Honest wipes, I have to give the nod to The Honest Company.
I need to point out though that these two wipes seriously look like twins at first glance. If you check the picture above, you’ll see that the texture on them looks nearly identical (I had to double-check I had gotten them from two different packages at first). If you put your hand on the wipes and feel them, however, you’ll notice that the Honest wipes have just that extra bit of bumpiness and texture to their fabric compared to the Hello Bello wipes.
Toughness
My test for this category is to basically try and tear the wipes apart like the Incredible Hulk. While you might not do that on a daily basis (unless you are feeling frustrated – get it out!) it is a pretty good way to find out just how strong your wipe fabric is.
Head-to-head, these two wipes tear with almost the same amount of effort.
Like I said before, I wouldn’t be surprised if these wipes weren’t somehow made by the same process because they seem so alike. Compared to other wipes on the market, both of these wipes are pretty tough overall. They are stronger than the Water Wipes, for instance, but not as strong as the Bloom baby wipes which seem to be made of some kind of alien material.
Size
The size of a baby wipe is important because you want to be able to get as much work done per wipe as possible. Fewer wipes used means more time and money saved!
With Honest wipes vs Hello Bello wipes, it’s close, but The Honest Company wipes are bigger. The Honest wipes measure in at 7.1 inches by 8 inches while the Hello Bello wipes are 6.69 inches by 7.76 inches. I tried to capture the size difference in the pictures so you’ll be able to see what that looks like in the real world.
Fragrance
These wipes are both labeled as being fragrance-free and there are no synthetic chemical fragrances to be found in the ingredients list. That’s a good thing because lots of scary things can be hidden behind the word ‘fragrance’ on a product label.
Sometimes fragrance-free products can have a strange of off-putting odor, but both of these wipes smell quite pleasant. To my nose, however, The Honest Company wipes have the better scent. It’s very subtle (you have to dig your nose in to smell it – that’s how I like it) but it smells very fresh and natural.
Which wipe is more eco-friendly?
While safety is the most important part of purchasing the right natural baby wipe for your little one, I also care about what happens to the wipes after I use them. With that in mind, I’m always looking for disposable products that are biodegradable, compostable, or otherwise break down after I throw them away. Of course, using cloth diapers would mean that there wouldn’t be any extra material left to deal with.
Baby wipes can cause lots of problems within sewer systems and waterways if they are flushed, even if they are biodegradable. If they are thrown away correctly, however, the biodegradable wipes will be able to break down in the landfill and reduce the amount of garbage we have to deal with.
Are honest wipes biodegradable? Are Hello Bello wipes biodegradable?
The good news is that both Honest wipes and Hello Bello wipes are fully biodegradable under normal conditions. This means that you will be able to throw these away without having to worry too much about what happens to them afterward. They can pull this off by using mostly plant-based materials and wood pulp in their cloth fabric. The plastic packaging they come in should be recyclable as well!
The Honest Company scored the top spot in my list of the best 5 biodegradable baby wipes. Check out that list here to find out about other options that are all safe, natural, and pretty affordable!
But, are Honest wipes compostable? Are Hello Bello wipes compostable?
No, they aren’t. While both brands promise that their wipes are able to biodegrade under the right conditions, neither brand makes any claims that you could compost their wipes under normal conditions. That probably means there are materials in the wipe cloth itself that will not break down into the soil.
Packaging and other important details
I don’t worry too much about packaging and design personally when I’m shopping for disposable items like diapers and wipes. I must admit, however, that there are some pretty cute options on the market these days and both The Honest Company and Hello Bello are known for their cool factor.
As far as design goes for the wipe packaging, I would say that there is a tie. In terms of overall packaging, we have another tie because both feature the flip-top opening that lets you keep the wipes fresh longer and they both have interwoven wipes that lets the first wipe pull out the next and so on.
Final Thoughts
We’ve covered a lot of ground here and I hope you have what you need to make your decision. For what it’s worth, I actually prefer the Honest wipes more than the Hello Bello wipes but it’s definitely hard to argue with something that is half the price of their competitor. Since many of the categories were neck and neck and the ingredients lists were so similar, I would have to give the ultimate nod to the Hello Bello wipes overall!
